Weekly Fishing Report ~ May, 1 2023 – May 7, 2023
Water temps on the beach making good improvements 62°-63° and the half-day bass fishing has been improving every day with it. Good action on the live baits with the calico bass. A 1/4 oz egg sinker and a live anchovy are super simple and just classic bass approaches are catching fish.
We just started our twi runs too on Fri, Sat, and Tues nights. On Friday night, they had good calico bass fishing too.3/4 day fishing rockfish and that’s been great both along the coast here and on the 14-mile bank. Usual deal with nice bocaccio and chili’s on the bank and more reds and bocaccio on the coast here. We had a day or two of that weather with some wind, but we made the best of it and caught fish through it anyways.

Over at Clemente, Fury continued to see good sign of game fish. They had a good hit with 20 yellowtail on Wednesday. That fish went 15-25lbs, and a majority was caught on large rubber tube baits. Good rockfish drifts as well for them and some more bonito bass and whitefish make up their counts.
Kyle Nelson with a solid SCI yellow aboard the Fury. Crewmen Sam Rose with the hold.
Cod action for the Dana Wharf fleet has been epic!
Bass action perking up with water temps in the 60’s and love anchovies for bait!
