Fall is one of the most dynamic and productive seasons for saltwater fishing in Dana Point—and the coming months are looking especially promising. Whether you’re chasing pelagics, loading up on bass, or just enjoying cooler temps and wide-open ocean, now is a great time to hit the water with Dana Wharf.

What We’re Seeing

Already, we’ve seen strong numbers of calico bass, bonito, and sand bass on our 1/2 and 3/4 Day trips, while yellowtail and bluefin tuna have remained active offshore. As we transition into fall, expect increased bottom fishing opportunities as well, with sheephead, whitefish, and rockfish becoming more prominent.

Best Trips for Fall

This is the time to try a little bit of everything. Our 3/4 Day trips have been delivering on both quantity and variety. Meanwhile, Overnight and Limited Load options on boats like the Fury give you a shot at deeper water targets and fewer lines in the water. Fall is also a great time for private charters, as the weather stays stable and the crowds thin out.
