Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching offers private lobster charters on the Reel Fun vessel. These private group charters are for up to 10 passengers and include all equipment needed and feature PROMAR Hoopnets. The trip fee is $1,500 including gratuity for 10 people for a 4-hour evening excursion from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Passengers need to provide a valid fishing license and lobster report card that can be purchased at the Dana Wharf Sportfishing office. All equipment is provided.

Season Start: Lobster fishing season October-mid  March

What equipment you can bring:

  • Warm clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, marine deck boots or other waterproof boots are the best but tennis shoes are also ok.
  • Bring a jacket , windbreaker or sweatshirt the temperature drops quickly.
  • We have an onboard galley for you to purchase hot food, beer, water, and soda. ( you can also bring your own food but no alcohol )
  • What if you only have 5 people instead of 10, you can bring as many people as you want just not more than 10 including yourself , the charter price is still $1500.00 regardless of how many passengers.
  • All lobsters will be measured by crew , legal lobster will be kept alive in out tanks for the duration of the trip

Chris grew up in San Clemente Surfing and Fishing. Back in 1989 after graduating from college and landing a job as Vice President of production at Glass Tech Industries, Chris decided to give it up and work out on the boats at Dana Wharf Sport Fishing and Whale Watching to pursue his passion and purpose out on the Ocean. In the last 28 years as a licensed USCG Captain Chris has had the privilege of working on every boat in the fleet Experiencing the best and worst of the local Sport fishing industry, his favorite fishing in the summer is the local offshore Tuna, you never know when you will get HOOKED UP.

Chris also has had the opportunity to help set the bar in today’s modern Whale Watching, Gray Whale is his favorite Whale to watch and teach the public about. In the past 5 years Chris has had the privilege of working with NOAA’s Orange County Entanglement Response Team and have helped with several disentanglement responses.
